OUR HISTORY

Sep 2008 – Jun 2012 LAUSD Innovative Small School

APEX Academy founded as an innovative small school within LAUSD’s Former Local District 4 to serve the East Hollywood Community. With the mission to serve any student, any time, any where in a competency-based instruction and promotion structure (Diploma Plus); the school received a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

2012-2013 1st Year as Independent Charter School

The 2012-2013 school year marked our first year as an independent conversion charter school.

2013-2014 APEX Middle School Added

As prescribed by the approved charter petition, APEX Academy added grades 7th and 8th during our second year as an independent charter school.

2014-2015 School Reaches Capacity in Grades 7-12

As a Span School with grades 7-12, APEX Academy, reaches enrollment capacity. With a 96% Free and Reduced Lunch rate, APEX’s LEA/SSD plan is approved by the CA State Board of Education.

2015-2016

Serving all students. Our mission continues with an expansion of our services to students with special needs.

2016-2017 APEX Opportunity Expansion

APEX Academy looks for opportunities to offer quality educational opportunities for ALL students in areas of high need.
