As an instructor, I develop individualized learning goals for all students, provide a variety of assessments, as well as plan and implement daily student-centered lessons that focus on preparing students for the rigors of college. In my math classes, I consistently relate abstract theories to real-life situations to engage the students, and assist in daily one-on-one tutoring with struggling students. I also integrate SAT practice and critical thinking into my lessons to encourage academic and intellectual growth. I have excellent classroom management skills and work to promote APEX’s mission at all times. While completing my Master’s degree in Education at Loyola Marymount, I specialized in teaching English Language Learners, building connections between language and mathematics, and integrating creative techniques to assist with comprehension and maximize student success.
